Frequently Asked Questions About Georgia Hunting

What are your days of operation?

Check-in Friday at noon until Wednesday at noon. To stay for a day that we are not open, you must have a party of 6 or more in your group.

When is the Rut?

It’s hard to say.  We see bucks chasing doe as early as Oct 25th through Dec 15th every year. I wish I could read a deer’s mind, but typically, we see and observe lots of activity between November 12th through December 12th.

What do I need for my stay?

Typically, we will email, text, or call you one week out.  We will give you an extended forecast so you don’t over pack or pack clothes that you would not need.

What types of food do you serve?

We serve dinner and snacks.  Dinner is normally a southern cooked meal that has a meat, two vegetables, and dessert. We also provide water/Gatorade, fruit, and some snacks. Please feel free to bring your favorite snack or something to prepare for lunch. The nearest town is 10 miles away with an array of different restaurants.

Do you clean deer?

No, because we have nowhere to put the carcasses.  We typically will field dress your deer, and either you can put it in our walk-in cooler and take it home to your processor or take it to our processor.  There is a fee of $35.00 to gut, skin, quarter and packaged the deer for you to pick up on your way home.

What’s your success rate?

Since we are a fair chase outfitter (NO HIGH FENCE), we can’t come close to telling you if your success rate will be high or not.  However, over the past couple of years, we have harvested some very nice animals.  If you listen to your guide and are prepared, your chances go up.  Being prepared means to hunt and stay focused on the areas we tell you to watch rather than sleeping or playing on a cell phone.

What kind of stands do you have?

We have a variety of deer stands; all our stands are millennium tree stands. We also use Barronett Ground blinds, and we have shooting houses with roofs on them.

How long does a typical hunt last?

That solely is up to you.  Personally, I would sit as long as I could or what the guide suggests for that particular area.  The majority of our big deer have been shot during mid-morning to early afternoon. ***Note, if you can't sit until 10:00 AM, please let your guide know so they will sit you somewhere that doesn’t mess up the other hunters.

Do you take credit card?

Yes we take credit card but all payments must be paid prior to you being able to hunt. We do not have a credit card machine, so we will have to call our Internet lady, Laura, to run your card. Laura lives in a different time zone, and depending on her schedule, she may or may not be able to take your payment until the next day.

What is the difference between guided and semi guided?

There is no difference is cost. Guided means to sit with you and hunt. For semi-guided hunts, we take you to the stand, give you a scouting report, and leave.
